Type 2 Diabetes
What is it?
Diabetes is a disease that results from too much sugar in the blood, which occurs because the body doesn’t produce properly use insulin. Insulin is produced within the pancreas and used by the body to convert sugar and other food into energy. Type 2 diabetes results from a mixture of genetic and environmental factors. The risk is greatly increased when associated with lifestyle factors such as high blood pressure, overweight or obesity, insufficient physical activity and poor diet.
